Decarbonizing Multifamily LMI & Affordable Housing

The fifth edition of The Clean Fight is focused on decarbonizing existing multifamily low-to-moderate income (LMI) and affordable housing in New York City and State. In collaboration with leaders in the affordable housing market–the Climate Friendly Homes Fund administered by The Community Preservation Corporation–we’re seeking high impact solutions that break down barriers to decarbonization and simplify the retrofit process for multifamily LMI and affordable housing. 

Our program is laser-focused on supporting the scaling of your solution. How? Through high-touch matchmaking with housing partners, and critical ecosystem players, connections to the right sources of capital to meet your growth needs, and access to technical assistance and grant funding to facilitate demonstration projects in New York State.

Why Multifamily Affordable Housing?

New York’s multifamily affordable housing buildings are owned and operated by managers dedicated to preserving affordable housing so that our vibrant, diverse communities can stay that way. But navigating the decarbonization process is complex and costly and many existing decarbonization solutions may not be the best fit for the under-resourced and often older buildings that comprise most of New York’s multifamily affordable housing stock.

As we move towards a zero-emission economy we need decarbonization solutions that are tailored to the challenges faced by affordable housing providers while keeping costs low, ensuring resiliency, and improving quality of life for residents. To truly drive an inclusive and equitable transition, we need to make decarbonization accessible and affordable for everyone.
