We are delighted to announce the ten innovative companies that will make up the seventh edition of The Clean Fight’s Deployment Program, dedicated to increasing the pace of energy storage deployment in New York State over the next 12-18 months. With electrification accelerating and electricity use increasing across the state, deploying energy storage will enable New York to build a reliable, flexible grid that can unlock clean, affordable energy for all.
The selected companies offer novel energy storage solutions – what we’re calling ‘Deploy Now’ solutions – designed to turn regulatory, spatial, and economic constraints into a competitive advantage, enabling more rapid deployment. From consumer batteries developed for dense, urban environments, and alternative chemistry technologies created with safety at their core, to the latest thermal and geothermal storage systems, and software platforms that help to get more storage online more efficiently, and get the most out of existing assets.
If you're an energy storage developer, OEM, real estate owner/operator, utility, public institution, etc. and are interested in being introduced to any of the solutions or learning more about involvement in our energy storage programs, email hello@thecleanfight.com for more information.
Lithium-Ion and Alternative Chemistries
EticaAG’s lithium-ion battery system solves one of the industry's most serious safety problems, fire risk, by submerging battery cells in a non-flammable liquid rather than relying on conventional air or liquid cooling.
Peak Energy offers grid-scale batteries that use sodium instead of lithium – making them cheaper, safer, and free of the supply chain dependencies that make lithium-ion vulnerable.
Inlyte’s 2-in-1 long-duration energy storage battery is made from naturally abundant and inexpensive raw materials – primarily, iron and sodium chloride.
Thermal and Geothermal Storage
Enersion provides a high-density thermal energy storage system using advanced phase change materials that enables up to 6x more energy storage within a significantly smaller footprint, making it ideal for space-constrained urban environments.
Elstor has developed a modular thermal energy storage system that stores electricity from the cheapest hours of the day as heat (500°C). That stored energy can then be flexibly discharged as steam and heat for utility, district energy, and industrial applications.
Dig offers a low cost, compact, modular drilling technology that enables geothermal storage to be deployed in dense urban areas and homes (spaces where geothermal rigs have historically been too big).
Consumer Batteries
Pila provides a sleek, plug-in home battery system that keeps lights and essentials running during a power outage, without the need for professional installation or a full electrical retrofit.
PopWheels delivers a network of battery swap stations for e-bike delivery workers – instead of waiting hours to recharge, riders swap out a dead battery for a fully charged one in under a minute.
Energy Infrastructure Software
Electron helps electricity grid operators make better use of the millions of small, distributed energy sources – like batteries, solar panels, and smart devices – already connected to the grid, so they can deliver reliable, affordable power without always building expensive new infrastructure.
Paces helps renewable energy developers find the right sites and navigate the permitting and grid connection process faster, so clean energy projects get built in years rather than decades.
