There is an unprecedented need for energy storage deployment in New York State. With electrification accelerating and electricity use increasing across the State, it is critical that we deploy energy storage now to enable a reliable, flexible grid that can unlock clean, affordable energy for all.

The seventh edition of The Clean Fight is dedicated to increasing the pace at which energy storage is deployed in New York State over the next 12-18 months. We’re recruiting novel energy storage solutions – what we’re calling 'deploy now' solutions – capable of being installed in the next year to help fill the gaps and transform the pace of deployments, in collaboration with NY-BEST, and with support from New Energy New York.

What We Mean by 'Deploy Now'
When we refer to 'deploy now' solutions, we mean solutions that turn regulatory, spatial, and economic constraints into a competitive advantage enabling immediate deployment. New York State’s dynamic market rewards solutions that simplify deployment through design, performance, certification readiness, affordability, or optimization of existing assets. Innovative solutions that break into New York have the opportunity to secure their foothold in a market poised for enormous growth and rapidly scale.

We know that many different factors contribute to ease of deployment. We want to learn why your solution is deployable by design – tell us.

Examples include but are not limited to:
DESIGNED FOR DENSE, URBAN ENVIRONMENTS

Compact, safe, and/or flexible solutions able to provide critical grid functionality with minimal disruption in dense, urban areas

SAFETY-FORWARD, REGULATION-OPTIMIZED

Solutions that have already secured critical safety certifications and/or have clear pathways to receiving regulatory approvals. UL certification is a baseline requirement

AFFORDABLE, DOING MORE WITH LESS

Solutions that are able to reduce soft costs for implementation, improve project economics, speed up the development process, get more out of existing assets, and/or can increase energy affordability
