Introducing the Retrofit Solutions Hub
An easier way to find retrofit solutions and whether they're a fit for your building.
Since 2020, The Clean Fight has worked with multifamily building owners of all sizes, from small affordable co-ops to large public housing authorities, to connect them with proven solutions that reduce emissions, ease energy costs, and improve resident comfort. Along the way, building teams told us that finding the right solution — such as a heat pump that can avoid expensive rewiring or insulation that can be installed without opening wall cavities — can be prohibitively time consuming and resource intensive, stalling projects before they even start.
We built the Retrofit Solutions Hub to make that search easier.
What the Hub Is, and What It Isn't
The goal of the Hub is to make it easier to find solutions that might be a good fit for yor building, plus the detailed information on them, all in one place. Working with our partners at Bright Power, we created profiles of retrofit solutions designed to work in multifamily buildings, particularly LMI and affordable housing. Each profile opens with a quick overview: what the solution is, what sets it apart, benefits and use cases, and potential cost savings. Teams ready to go deeper can find details on building compatibility, example installations, resident experience, New York financing, and more, all in a single profile.
The Hub is built around specific challenges building teams commonly face, and can help owners, engineers, and advisors start to explore what might be a good fit for an ongoing concern like rising energy costs, or a point in time issue like a disconnected gas line. It can work alongside other retrofit tools, such as NYC Accelerator and the Momentum tool. If you already have a recommendation on which retrofit measures your building needs, our tool can help you find potential solutions to put them in place.
This is an initial version of a living resource – meaning we hope to continually improve this tool with your guidance and input. Right now, we’ve started with solutions from our programs because we’ve had firsthand experience with them. But we’ve also included links to top competitors so you can explore more options that might be right for you.
We have no financial stake in any of these companies, and we encourage every building team to conduct its own due diligence.
Two Ways to Use the Hub:
Option 1: Start with a challenge. Navigate through a short series of statements about challenges and goals and the Hub will point you to potential solutions that fit your situation.
Let’s say you’re an affordable co-op in New York City that has had its gas shut off. You would start with "Address gas line issues in my building," then choose "Electrify gas cooking stoves" to reach induction stove options.
Option 2: Browse everything. If you’d rather see the full set at once, select "See all solutions." From there, you can filter by category: appliances, building energy monitoring and management, building envelope, energy storage, electric vehicle charging and management, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning .
What’s Next
This beta version is just the beginning. In future iterations, we’ll look to expand the set of solutions and explore ways for other organizations to share vetted solutions. We’ll also create additional search functionality, such as filtering by building typology.
Of course, the Hub is about more than just solutions. If you have ever lived in a building where the heat is unreliable or the stove doesn't work, you know these upgrades shape daily life. When the right solution is easier to find, residents get safer, more comfortable and more affordable homes.
Share Your Feedback
We hope the Hub makes the first step of your next retrofit a little easier. Explore it here, and let us know what works and what could be better. You can share your thoughts through the feedback form or email us at hello@thecleanfight.com. Your input will help shape what the Hub becomes and the impact it can have.
